Thailand, and China Agree on Visa-Free Travel – Boosting Tourism Recovery

Thailand and China have reached a bilateral agreement to waive visa requirements for travellers, announced Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. This significant move is expected to expedite the post-pandemic recovery in Thailand’s vital tourism industry.

Under the agreement, Chinese visitors to Thailand will be exempted from visa requirements beyond the current temporary scheme, which is set to conclude on February 29th. In reciprocity, China will extend the same permanent privilege to Thai tourists following multiple rounds of negotiations.

This mutual waiver of visa requirements is poised to bolster tourism ties between Thailand and China, two key players in the global tourism landscape. By facilitating easier travel between the two countries, this agreement is anticipated to stimulate tourist arrivals and contribute to the revitalization of Thailand’s tourism sector, which has been significantly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. This way hotels like Koh Yao Yai Resort offering some of the best suites in Phuket have a chance of increasing revenue.
