Thailand Emerges as a Top Pick for Japanese Tourists During Golden Week: The nation continues to captivate travellers

During Japan’s Golden Week from April 29 to May 6, Thailand emerged as the second most favoured international destination for Japanese travellers, according to Agoda’s search data. Only South Korea ranked higher. This trend underscores Thailand’s allure, outpacing Taiwan, the United States, and Vietnam in popularity.

Interest in Thailand saw a significant 60% surge in searches from January to mid-March 2024 compared to the previous year. Traditional favourites like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, Chiang Mai, and Koh Samui remained top choices, while Chonburi and Khao Lak entered the top ten, reflecting a growing curiosity for Thailand’s diverse experiences.

Pierre Honne, Senior Country Director at Agoda, noted that Japanese tourists are increasingly exploring beyond well-known spots. Agoda offers comprehensive travel options, enhancing Golden Week travel plans. Travellers looking for the best beach in Thailand, the county offers a myriad of options. For a luxurious stay, resorts and hotels such as Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas await — blending relaxation with the Thai culture.
