Smooth skies, seamless journeys – Thailand gears up for its busiest travel season
Thailand is bracing for a major travel spike during Songkran 2026, with Airports of Thailand (AOT) projecting around 3.7 million passengers between April 10 and 19. Domestic travellers are expected to rise to 1.44 million, marking a 9.3% increase, while international arrivals may slightly dip to 2.26 million amid ongoing Middle East tensions.
AOT anticipates 23,070 flights during the period, including 10,918 domestic and 12,152 international services. Preparations across key airports—Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hat Yai, and Chiang Rai—include enhanced passenger processing, free parking, shuttle services, multilingual support, and upgraded security measures.
Tourists seeking convenient stays are encouraged to explore Khaosan Road hotels, with popular options like Tinidee Trendy Khaosan offering easy access to Bangkok’s festival hotspots. AOT emphasises its commitment to efficient, safe, and seamless travel, ensuring visitors enjoy a smooth Songkran experience.
