Thailand has welcomed 10.72 million international visitors, generating tourism receipts of 518 billion baht (RM67.18 billion). Among these visitors, 1.39 million arrived from Malaysia. According to the Tourism and Sports Ministry, between January 1 and April 14, Chinese tourists made up over two million of the international arrivals, followed by Malaysians, Russians (695,624), South Koreans (619,186), and Indians (546,935).
Minister Sudawan Wangsuphakijkosol reported that from the first week of April to the second, 735,802 foreign visitors entered Thailand, averaging 105,115 daily. She anticipates a continued increase in visitor numbers due to factors like the end of Ramadan, which is expected to boost Malaysian tourist arrivals, and free-visa agreements with certain countries – success that can be attributed to activities like an elephant camp in Thailand, such as those provided by the Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort.
