Thailand which suspended its Test & Go programme late last year due to the Omicron COVID-19 variant is once more offering quarantine-free entry to fully vaccinated tourists. This initiative was restarted on 1st February this year, while the entry requirements were updated and came into effect from 1st March 2022. Now, such travellers can easily visit key destinations including Bangkok while the mandatory health insurance coverage for tourists which was previously US$ 50,000 has also been reduced to US$ 20,000.
Those planning a trip to Thailand’s capital under the Test & Go programme must take an RT-PCR test on day one; they also need a confirmed booking at an SHA Plus+ certified accommodation provider where they can wait for the result. In Bangkok, serviced apartments make an ideal choice for such stays and are on offer at centrally located properties like Ascott Sathorn Bangkok which also have Test & Go promotions; these come with one RT-PCR test, an antigen test kit and one-way airport transfers. Once the day one RT-PCR test is negative, tourists are free to travel but must use the antigen test kit to perform a self-test and upload the result via a specified smartphone app such as MorChana.
