Guests from travel companies, travel media and those from the business community gathered together at an exciting evening to commemorate the opening of the 28th TAT overseas office in Toronto. Mr Kalin Sarasin stated that the TAT selected Toronto for their new office because of its multi-cultural population and because the capital is one of the largest urban areas in North America.
In 2016 the average stay in Thailand for Canadian travellers was 18 days with the expenditure of about 172 Canadian dollars a day per person. Furthermore, most of the Canadian travellers who visited Thailand in 2017 were from Ontario. The TAT has also begun to work with airlines such as Air Canada, Cathay Pacific and Emirates to direct more traffic to Thailand. With this, tourist visits will rise in places like Koh Samui. Resorts and hotels such as Anantara Bophut Koh Samui Resort are sure to experience a rise in bookings from Canadian travellers.
