As reported on the Khaleej Times newspaper website in April this year, the Maldives has over the years become a preferred holiday destination for travellers from the UAE. Quoted in the article was the Ambassador of Maldives to the UAE, Aminath Shabeena, who highlighted the close bilateral relationship between the countries too with the people-to-people relations being a key factor. The ambassador also noted that the rise in tourists from the UAE was throughout the year and not just during the festive season or national holidays.
In fact, according to Dnata Travel data published on the Khaleej Times website on 23rd June 2022, the Maldives emerged as the number two destination for travellers from the UAE for summer holidays this year. These tourists can look to enjoy safe accommodation here at private island resorts like The Residence Maldives; such properties not only provide the ideal getaway for holidays but are also ideal for hosting various Maldives events from corporate retreats to private functions and weddings.
