The Maldives Reopens for Tourists in Push to be a ‘Virus Safe’ Destination

As COVID-19 tensions begin to settle across the globe, more and more countries are attempting to reopen their borders, welcome back tourists, and regain some semblance of normality. The Maldives is one of these countries – the famous beach vacation destination has major plans to reopen and be designated as a ‘virus-safe’ destination.

One of the major factors working in favour of the Maldives is that the country is a series of islands completely separate from the mainland. This has helped in containing the virus and has made lockdown measures more successful. Nonetheless, rigorous testing and mandatory quarantine sessions are expected to still be practiced following the reopening. This also means that travellers can book their stay at a number of Maldives luxury resorts, this includes establishments like the Amilla Maldives Resort and Residences.
