On 13th August this year, the Maldives recorded its one-millionth visitor which was another milestone in the country’s remarkable tourism recovery story after the global pandemic hit in 2020. By the end of September 2022, arrival figures had already exceeded 1,157,000, putting the country on track to achieve its year-end goal of reaching 1.6 million travellers; this would also be significant since it’s also celebrating its golden jubilee year of tourism which commenced in 1972.
In September this year, this Indian Ocean nation had already achieved an increase of over 37% in arrivals when compared with the same period in 2021 and prospects look good for greater numbers next year. This popular destination continues to attract holidaymakers from around the world looking to enjoy safe stays at private island resorts like Kandolhu Maldives. Apart from relaxation, there are also plenty of opportunities here for fun recreation; Maldives is the ideal place for everything from water sports such as snorkelling and diving to excursions that include sunset cruises and big game fishing.
