The Maldives is said to have a record of 1.4 million tourists who graced the islands in 2018 – a figure announced by the Maldivian government last month in Jan 2019. According to Tourism minister Ali Waheed, this is a 6.8 percent increase from the previous year of 2017. Europe was leading and dominated the Maldivian tourist market share by 49% followed by the Asia Pacific being a close second with a 42% share in tourist arrivals to the Maldives.
There was also a major increase in accommodation capacities across all segments in the Maldives including resorts, guesthouses, and hotels. Those tourists travelling to the island this year in 2019 and who are looking for some of the best resorts in Maldives can stay at places such as Naladhu Private Island Maldives for utmost luxury and serene beach surroundings.
