With tourists pouring into the Maldives to enjoy their stays at resorts, the likes of The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort, it’s of no surprise that this archipelago has thousands flocking into the country every month. However, in November, the 1.5 millionth tourist to the archipelago was welcomed rather grandly. This is the very first time when the Maldives recorded 1.5 million arrivals within a year.

A tourist from Russia was greeted warmly by the tourist industry officials at the airport and was escorted out of the airport with traditional performances and plenty of gifts and rewards. Talk about a grand welcome!
