The Maldives reached yet another milestone in their growing tourism industry for 2022. While aiming for a mighty 1.6 million tourists to arrive in the Maldives in 2022, the island nation has already welcomed its millionth tourist as of now. Whether it is to a Maldives private beach villa or a busy city hotel, the country has been fortunate to have globetrotters flocking into lodgings like The Residence Maldives Dhigurah from every corner of the world.
The one-millionth tourist who arrived in the Maldives is a national of the Czech Republic and was welcomed with warm smiles and hospitality on the 13th of August 2022. This milestone also records a 51% increase in tourist arrivals from 2021. Thoyyib Mohamed, CEO and Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) applauded the tireless efforts of all parties who were instrumental in achieving this goal despite hardships that came along the way.
