Tourism Authority of Thailand Forecasts 40m Tourists in 2019 – Tourism on the Rise

Thailand is experiencing rapid growth in the tourism industry and the prospects for the next year only keep getting better and better! The revenue for this year has reached a whopping 34.4 trillion baht. The governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Yuthasak Supasorn stated that growth is foreseen from both local and foreign tourists for the next year.

The international market is expected to bring in revenues of 2.28 trillion baht while the local market brings in 1.12 trillion baht in 2019 according to the governor of TAT. The arrivals may reach 40 million and domestic tourists are predicted to make 169 million trips. Hotels such as Anantara Sathorn Bangkok Hotel which is a well-known Sathorn hotel in Bangkok will benefit from these arrivals. Mr Yuthasak also said that the tourism industry amounts to 18/19% of GDP and will continue to grow which may also cause issues.
