Tourist Arrivals in Maldives Nearing a Million: A Steady Roady for Tourism in 2024

According to the Ministry of Tourism Maldives, the number of tourist arrivals reached closer to a million, when the island recorded a total of 981,070 arrivals for 2024 as of June 23rd. This constitutes a 10.2% increase from the number of arrivals recorded across the same period last year. It also means that the Maldives is almost at the halfway point of reaching its goal of 2 million tourist arrivals for 2024.

Further data reveals that the daily average number of arrivals for the year so far is 5,638, with tourists opting to stay for an average of 8 days. The arrivals recorded in June this year alone show a 9.5% increase from June last year which suggests that the industry is on track to reach its goal for 2024.

Maldives Tourism has been operational since 1972 and has since expanded its repertoire of hotels and resorts to include those such as Naladhu Private Island Maldives located on what is arguably the best private island in Maldives.
