Tourist Entry Protocols in Sri Lanka Eased Further – No Day One PCR Tests for All Travellers

To encourage more tourists to travel to Sri Lanka, the country has been easing entry requirements over the last few months, while keeping stringent protocols in place as well. A significant update came into effect from 20th April this year; as announced by the SLTDA (Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority), both partially vaccinated and non-vaccinated travellers no longer had to submit to a day one COVID-19 PCR test or subject themselves to quarantine.

They did however have to present a negative result of a PCR test (within 72 hours of embarkation) or Rapid Antigen Test (within 48 hours of embarkation). Additionally, kids below 12 years were exempted from this requirement. With fully vaccinated tourists already enjoying quarantine-free holidays here, the country will be hoping for more visitors during the year. This popular destination continues to offer plenty of memorable experiences including at its famed south coast where travellers can stay at villas in Mirissa; options include those at ‘Safe & Secure’ certified properties like Sri Sharavi Beach Villas & Spa which is not only ideally located right by the beach but follows strict health and hygiene measures too.
