Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort
Sri Lanka has announced the extension of its pilot project granting visa-free entry to visitors from China, India, Russia, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia. This initiative, originally set to expire on 31st March 2024, will now be valid until 30th April 2024, as confirmed by the Minister of Tourism and Lands, Harin Fernando. Launched in October 2023, the visa-free programme aimed to boost tourism in the island nation. This strategy appears to be working, with Sri Lanka recording a significant increase in tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2024. As of 31st March, this year, the country has welcomed around 608,475 tourists, putting them well on track to achieve their target of 2.3 million visitors for 2024 (a substantial increase from the 1.48 million recorded in 2023).
The move signifies a commitment to attracting international visitors and revitalising the local tourism industry. Sri Lanka continues to be a captivating destination for travellers worldwide, offering a plethora of experiences, including stunning coastal escapes on the famed southern shores of destinations like Tangalle. Hotels nestled along the beach here such as Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort provide tourists a chance to enjoy idyllic getaways by the sea with plenty of cultural experiences, culinary discoveries, and fun adventures as well.
