Western Sydney Airport Nears Completion Ahead of 2026 Opening

Blending nature, culture, and innovation to redefine the travel experience

Australia is preparing to welcome its first new international airport in over five decades. Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), located at Badgerys Creek, is on track to open in late 2026, with major terminal construction now complete.

Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects and COX Architecture, the $5.3 billion project celebrates the country’s landscapes. Highlights include a striking sculptural ceiling that filters light like eucalyptus bark, sandstone finishes sourced locally, and panoramic views of the Blue Mountains. Aboriginal heritage is also central to the design, developed in consultation with Dharug Custodian Aboriginal Corporation.

The single terminal will house both international and domestic flights, with carriers such as Qantas and Singapore Airlines already confirmed. Equipped with smart baggage systems and 24-hour operations, WSI aims to transform air travel into a seamless experience.

For travellers seeking comfort nearby, PARKROYAL Darling Harbour, Sydney is a standout among Darling Harbour hotels, perfectly located for onward journeys.
