Whale Watching Season in Sri Lanka – An experience you won’t forget

Sri Lanka’s whale watching season has officially started, and with it, a rise in the number of eco-tourists visiting Sri Lanka. Tour packages for whale watching locations around the island are being widely promoted, as reputed tour operators such as Jetwing Eco Holidays, organize special excursions. Whale watching is the experience of a lifetime and Sri Lanka offers some of the world’s best locations for it. Humpback and sperm whales are a common sight, while the mighty blue whales can be found off the Southern, Eastern and West coast of Sri Lanka. The whale watching season runs from October to April and the best spots for whale watching are in Galle, Hikkaduwa and Mirissa which lies to the south and Trincomalee to the east. Dolphin lovers can head over to the town of Kalpitiya where dolphins are seen in abundance.
