What Next for Angkor Wat? – South Asian Wonder

Angkor Wat is the largest religious monument in the world stretching across an area of 400 square kilometres. This magnificent work of art was created during the Khmer period. Initially, a Hindu temple, dedicated to Lord Vishnu the years saw it transform into a Buddhist temple. The magnificent structure of the temple has earned it a spot in the list of seven alternative wonders of the world. The complexity and the awe of the temple mesmerize anyone visiting.

In order to preserve this historic monument, for 25 years the government has worked with a large number of nations. Preservation efforts and restoration works are carried out under the patronage of the ICC to safeguard and development of the historic site. According to the latest figures, Angkor Wat welcomes five million people annually, and those who are visiting this iconic site, base themselves in luxury hotels in Siem Reap the likes of Anantara Angkor Resort which gives easy access to this iconic sight.
