33rd Miami International Film Festival – Celebrating Cinema

An event which not only showcased world movie premiers along with famous stars and directors but many up and coming filmmakers from around the world too, the 33rd edition of the Miami International Film Festival took place this month amidst much fanfare. The festival which ran from 4th to 13th March, featured 129 cinematic creations and documentaries that were screened at several venues including the famed Olympia Theatre in the Downtown area. The Miami International Film Festival got underway with an opening night screening of My Big Night by Spanish director Alex de la Iglesia, followed by other screenings, film competitions, award presentations and panel discussions with directors and stars throughout 10 days. As part of the newly introduced Marquee Series, known film personalities such as Monica Bellucci, Iciar Bollaín, Gavin Hood and Deepa Mehta took part in on-stage conversations after the screenings of film projects they were involved in.
