Offering a unique opportunity to witness popular sport stars, celebrities and politicians come together to play golf, the 36th Jack Newton Celebrity Classic provided visitors with the fun thrills that they have come to expect from this annual event. The tournament took place from 15th to 17th December and was held at the Cypress Lakes Resort by Oaks Hotels & Resorts which not only offers Hunter Valley accommodation but features a scenic 18-hole championship golf course (par 72) as well.
Named after Australian golfing great Jack Newton, the event was held to raise funds for the Jack Newton Junior Golf Foundation and for education on diabetes. Attracting such celebrities as Darren Middleton from the band Powderfinger, Bob Hawke who was at one time the Prime Minister and swimmer Matthew Targett who is an Olympic gold medallist, the 36th Jack Newton Celebrity Classic also featured music and entertainment adding to the festive atmosphere.
