500,000 international visitors expected to arrive in New Zealand in the first 3 months of 2023

It is anticipated that within the next two months, approximately 500,000 international travellers will arrive in New Zealand. The cities of Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington are projected to receive between 470,000 to 530,000 visitors in January and February, marking the largest summer tourist season in recent years since the complete reopening of the international border. Stuart Nash, the Minister of Tourism, has stated that New Zealand has demonstrated itself to be an “appealing destination” for foreign visitors, resulting in a rise in tourism expenditure in various regions. He further stated that this upward trend is expected to continue throughout the summer months. This means the country’s tourism sector can look forward to another major jump by the month of March this year.
