World Maintenance 4.0 Summit in Morocco – A Focus on Accelerating Industrial Digitalisation
In May this year, Morocco hosted the inaugural World Maintenance 4.0 Summit which highlighted aspects such as IoT, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence. The event which was held from 11th to 12th May 2023 at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University also focused on the startup ecosystem and the important role it must play in accelerating industrial digitalisation. “Industry 4.0 for a sustainable future: challenges and perspectives” was the theme of the summit which looked at advances and trends in maintenance practices along with the sharing of ideas to boost profitability, efficiency, and productivity.
The startup ecosystem here has been developing steadily with innovation and technology coming to the forefront. While there is room for improvement, entrepreneurs and startups in Morocco are leading the way in progress and innovation. They will no doubt play a key role in economic development for the country which is also reliant on its strong tourism industry as travellers are back once again and enjoying stays at Marrakech hotels; 5 star properties in the city such as La Maison Arabe Marrakech make an ideal base for tourists who are returning to the country which recorded 2.9 million arrivals in the first quarter this year.
