Laos Takes Steps to Improve Tourism: A Step Towards Modernity and Sustainability
The government of Laos took steps to set up a joint venture company with the intention of developing the domestic tourism sector by making use of the country’s visitor attractions. To ensure that the desired goals are met, an agreement was facilitated between Enterprise Reform and Insurance under the Ministry of Finance, and the Lao Tourism Industry Development Co. Ltd. Consequently the Lao State Joint Venture Tourism Industry Co. Ltd was established.
The joint venture company aimed to modernise the country’s tourism sector while also promoting the preservation of natural, historical and cultural tourism resources. The number of tourist arrivals into Laos for the first three months of 2024 has already shown a 36% increase from last year’s numbers from the same period. This has improved hopes that more than 6 million local and foreign tourists will travel within the country in 2024.
As a tourism destination, Laos is already abundant in natural, historical and cultural attractions that draw tourists in from across the world. Additionally, visitors can easily find a hotel in Luang Prabang Laos from several luxury accommodations available such as the Avani+ Luang Prabang. Together, these provide a strong base on which the country’s tourism industry can be further strengthened to achieve the desired outcomes.
