South Korea Eases Travel Alert on Sri Lanka: Promising Signs for Sri Lanka Tourism
The Republic of Korea has decided to relax its travel alert on Sri Lanka. According to a media release provided by the South Korean Foreign Affairs Ministry, the travel alert was adjusted from level 2 to level 1 and was to take effect from July 2024 onwards.
The revised alert is said to be a reflection of improved health conditions and security on the island and is expected to increase the number of Korean visitors to the country. This was received as a welcome move as Sri Lankan Airlines looks to introduce a third flight frequency in Seoul during winter.
The change is also a promising sign for the tourism industry in Sri Lanka at large, which is on track to reach its goal of 2 million visitors by the end of 2024. With some of the best Sri Lanka hotels now made available for travellers by Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, tourists are now encouraged to enjoy extended stays on the island that allow them to fully explore the country’s various cultural, historical and natural attractions.
