Vietnam plans to Boost tourist sector – Visa Waivers to come into effect
Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, has proposed visa waivers for several countries to stimulate tourism and enhance Vietnam’s attractiveness as a travel destination in Southeast Asia. He instructed the ministries of public security and foreign affairs to collaborate on simplifying visa procedures, emphasising the need to make Vietnam more competitive amid growing regional competition. Currently, Vietnam offers visa exemptions to 25 countries, significantly fewer than Malaysia and Singapore, which allow visa-free access to over 160 nations.
Despite welcoming 8.8 million international visitors in the first half of 2024, a slight decline from pre-pandemic figures, Vietnam remains committed to boosting tourism, aiming for 18 million international tourists by year-end. While no specific countries have been mentioned for potential visa waivers, the initiative reflects Vietnam’s broader goal to compete globally in tourism. The country’s unique mix of cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and bustling urban centres—such as Hoi An, Halong Bay, and Ho Chi Minh City—offers travellers a diverse experience, with highlights as many choices of Mui Ne beach resort, such as the Anantara Mui Ne Resort.
