Zanzibar to Host World Travel Awards Event: A Renaissance for Local Tourism

Zanzibar is set to host the Africa Gala Ceremony, the first event for the World Travel Awards 2026, on the 28th of August. The event will draw leading hoteliers from across the continent, destination marketers, tourism leaders and innovators in the airline and hospitality industries for a celebration of a remarkable growth period in Africa’s tourism.

The Africa Gala for 2026 could not be held at a more pivotal time, when the continent is experiencing forward momentum in tourism due to increasing international visitor numbers and expanding air connectivity. The event will also be an additional boost for Zanzibar’s tourism by providing more visibility among global travellers looking to stay at top properties in the region like The Residence Zanzibar, while also exploring the many things to do in Zanzibar and other nearby regions.
