In an online article published at the end of 2019, American newspaper publication, USA Today, named Sri Lanka as one of the top destinations for travellers to head to during the winter season. The article titled “20 warm-weather destinations to visit this winter if you just can’t take the cold anymore”, referred to this tropical island as an “overlooked gem” highlighting the pristine wilderness, rich history and flavour-filled cuisine in Sri Lanka.
