A floating city in the Maldives – New initiatives to fight the climate change impacts

The Maldives which is considered the lowest-lying country in the world is popular among the tourist community as a tropical holiday destination. Every beach villa in Maldives such as those offered by properties the likes of Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort follows sustainable practices to fight the negative impacts of climate change as the country has been facing threats of the same for so long.

The Maldivian government has decided to develop an innovative floating city investing tons of money as a novel initiative to address this issue. This city will be developed very close to the capital city, Male, and its international airport. This city will follow a sustainable design and the responsibility will be taken by Netherlands-based Dutch Docklands. According to the plan, this 200-hectare lagoon will feature over 1000 waterfront residences and other developed services.
