A Floating City to Be Built in the Maldives – Mitigating the Impact of Climate Change

A unique ‘floating city’ is to be constructed in the Maldives and will minimise the effect of rising sea levels due to climate change; this was reported on the EcoWatch website on 30th May 2021. Dutch Docklands based in the Netherlands is designing this floating city in a lagoon that’s a 10-minute boat ride from Male, the nation’s capital. The floating segments of the city will be connected to barrier islands that form a protective outer ring, while new reefs will be grown to provide additional water breakers.
