A New Airport for Budget Flights to Bali – Plans to Deal with Growing Arrivals

As reported recently on Australian news and media website PEDESTRIAN.TV, plans are underway to construct a new international airport in Bali. Currently, this popular Indonesian island has one main airport, namely the Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar within easy reach of Bali beach resorts including properties such as Anantara Uluwatu Bali Resort. The new airport is set to be constructed in Kubutambahan which is around three hours from the airport in Denpasar.

While this has raised some cause for concern due to the added transport time to areas like Seminyak and Kuta, the need for a new airport is deemed necessary; this is because the current international airport cannot accommodate additional runways to keep up with the rise in tourist numbers from countries like Australia. According to current plans, all budget flights from Australia will be directed to the Kubutambahan airport once it’s completed in 2022.
