A New National Institute for Culture and Heritage to be Created in Seychelles

To protect and promote Seychellois Creole culture, a national institute for culture and heritage will soon be established; this was according to an online report published on 11th February 2021 by the Seychelles News Agency, which was quoting David Andre, the Mayor of Victoria. The mayor, who was speaking at a news conference, further mentioned that forming such an institute will help to provide some consistency in the efforts taken to preserve the country’s rich heritage.

It is expected that the new institution will come under the head of state, backed by an advisory council that will be focused on protecting Creole culture and which will initiate various activities and programmes. This is bound to help in tourism too; travellers staying at properties like Anantara Maia Seychelles Villas and in search of things to do in Praslin will no doubt also look for cultural experiences which showcase the country’s heritage.
