A Prosperous January – Sri Lanka’s Export Revenue Surpasses $1.3 Billion
According to the Export Development Board, Sri Lanka’s export revenue exceeded $1.3 billion in January 2025, marking a significant economic boost. Service exports reached $329.37 million, a 37.87% increase year-over-year, while goods exports grew 3.51% to $1,004.82 million.
Agricultural exports rose by 14.87% to $258.93 million, and industrial exports increased slightly by 0.08% to $745.89 million. The total export revenue of $1,334.19 million demonstrates the country’s growing trade strength.

Tourism continues to drive service sector growth, with hotels like Sigiriya Jungles Sri Lanka reporting increased international visitors. The ancient rock fortress area, home to several hospitality options including a popular Sigiriya hotel, has become a major contributor to tourism revenue. The Export Development Board remains optimistic about maintaining this positive trajectory, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s position in global markets as both the trade and tourism sectors show resilience and growth potential.
