A Tourism Revival in Thailand’s Lower Central Region – Discover the Heart of Thailand

Thailand’s Tourism Authority (TAT) is intensifying efforts to promote the lower central region, aligning with government initiatives to boost local soft power and foster inter-regional tourism. Highlighted during the 3rd roving Cabinet meeting in Phetchaburi, the Prime Minister of Thailand Srettha Thavisin emphasised enhancing the ‘4 Buri’ cities — Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, and Phetchaburi — as key tourism destinations. These efforts include developing attractions like Khao Ngu Stone Park and promoting cultural events such as Phetchaburi’s traditional bull racing.

Central to this strategy is the upgrade of Hua Hin Airport, slated to become an international hub by October 2025. This upgrade aims to facilitate easier access for international tourists, positioning Hua Hin as a pivotal gateway to the region. TAT’s promotional campaign showcases cultural delights, from Phetchaburi’s UNESCO Creative City status to Kanchanaburi’s natural beauty and Ratchaburi’s vibrant arts scene.

For travellers seeking luxury and relaxation, the nearby Anantara Hua Hin Resort — a lavish and modern hotel in Hua Hin — offers a perfect base to explore these cultural treasures while enjoying world-class hospitality. With ambitious tourism targets, the lower central region promises a blend of heritage, cuisine, and enhanced travel infrastructure, inviting global explorers to uncover its diverse charms.
