A Tribute for the Ancestor Spirits –Soaking up the Exotic Balinese Culture

A popular Balinese holiday that celebrates the triumph of dharma over adharma, Galungan festival also marks the period when the ancestral spirits return to earth. Kuningan marks the last day of the festival, which commemorates the returning of the spirits to their otherworldly habitats. Decided upon the Balinese calendar, Kuningan was celebrated on 11th November 2017. Those on vacation at Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali or another popular Bali Kuta resort had the incredible opportunity of witnessing this culturally significant festival.The special offerings made of yellow rice, fruits and flowers were offered symbolising happiness, prosperity and health. Celebrated all over Bali, the Kuningan Festival attracts many spectators in the world vacationing in this stunning tropical destination. It is believed that the ancestral spirits ascend during midday and therefore all the special offerings should be provided before noon. The enthusiastic spectators were able to catch a few glimpses of the most popular decoration of the festival, penjor built with bamboo poles with special offerings at the end.
