The Abbey Medieval Festival is a unique event that gives visitors a chance to actually experience the Middle Ages. This annual festival which ran from 14th to 15th July 2018 took place at the Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology in Caboolture which is around 40 km from Brisbane. CBD hotels including the likes of Oaks Lexicon Apartments make an ideal base from which to travel to this museum where one can learn more about the Middle Ages as well as other periods in world history.
Held partly in order to raise funds for the museum, the Abbey Medieval Festival also makes for a fun and interactive learning experience for the whole family. As in the past, the 29th edition of the festival featured street performers, re-enactors, musicians and more, all dressed to look the part and “acting” accordingly as well. Among the highlights were the jousting tournament featuring knights on horses, an authentic medieval-times marketplace, two grand banquets and a variety of activities ranging from dancing to archery.
