The eagerly awaited first sneak peak of the upcoming Star Wars movie titled The Force Awakens has offered a glimpse of one of the locations used for the film; the desert landscapes of Abu Dhabi. First launched on the iTunes Trailers service, the trailer’s first image depicts sand dunes that are characteristic of the deserts in Abu Dhabi. Such landscapes are typically found in the emirate and similar arid backdrops can be seen while staying at Abu Dhabi villas on Sir Bani Yas Island such as Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Al Sahel Villa Resort, Abu Dhabi.
Directed by J.J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the seventh episode in the immensely popular Star Wars franchise. Among the locations in Abu Dhabi that were used was the Western Region desert which doubled for the planet Tatooine, which fans will know as the home planet of both Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.
