The government of Abu Dhabi has unveiled extensive plans to develop a massive waterfront community (30- km long) in Hudayriat Island. The 3000-hectare island that’s located southwest of Abu Dhabi will be transformed into a vibrant and sustainable community as a result of this major makeover. The modifications will include a change in the standard of living, healthy lifestyle, will restore Emirati culture and create a range of coastal activities and attractions. The new island will also include a range of facilities and will be home to a rich natural environment. Those who are holidaying at one of the luxury 5 star hotels in Abu Dhabi such as the Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara can make a trip to Hudayriat Island upon the completion of the makeover. The project which was initially announced in 2009 is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
