Air Namibia resumes flights to Luanda

After a temporary suspension, Air Namibia began flying once again to Luanda a few weeks back. This was one of the very first air routes that Namibia reached out to upon gaining independence in the 1990s. Flights to Luanda at the time occurred only twice per week. However, as the years progressed, the number of flights went up to 7 per week by 2015.
Air Namibia’s Acting Commercial General Manager, Wimpie van Vuuren stated that from 1998 to 2015, the route to Luanda was the most profitable for the airline. A market analysis done recently led to the decision for a temporary suspension of the service as it was off season for the travel sector including hotels in Windhoek. Now, the market has picked up once more allowing more flights to the location including transit journeys. Hotels such as Avani Windhoek Hotel & Casino too are sure to pick up occupancy by this time of year.
