AirAsia Thailand is expanding its reach in India with the introduction of direct flights from Phuket to Chennai and Kolkata, starting from October 27th, 2024. This move comes in response to growing demand, as more Indian travellers are flocking to Thailand, thanks to the recent changes in visa rules, visitors can now enjoy a visa-free stay of up to 60 days.
The new flights will provide travellers from two major Indian cities with direct access to Phuket, Thailand’s most popular tourist island. This expansion aligns with the surge in Indian tourist arrivals, with over 1 million Indians visiting Thailand in the first six months of 2024. The new routes are expected to boost tourism to Thailand’s southern beach resorts and Bangkok, further strengthening the ties between the two countries’ travel sectors. High end Indian travellers also have the option of a Phuket residence for sale by popular brands like Layan Residences by Anantara.
