In honour of Thai National Elephant Day which fell on 13th March, hospitality group Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas held charity-driven celebrations for the country’s national animal. Such fund raising is expected to increase charitable donations as well as generate awareness to help in the conservation of the Asian elephant.
A special Mountain Fête took place from 27th to 29th March at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort; one of the leading Chiang Rai hotels, it has a special camp where “working elephants” that have been rescued from the streets are rehabilitated and looked after. The Mountain Fête gave visitors a chance to interact with elephants and featured a number of elephant-related activities too. Additionally, Anantara hosted the inaugural Elephant Boat Race & River Festival at Bangkok’s Chao Phraya River from 29th to 31st March. The festival featured fun activities, musical concerts and entertainment with proceeds going towards elephant conservation.
