The Italian restaurant, Acquolina which is one of the dining venues at Anantara Kalutara Resort recently held a one-of-a-kind ‘show’ that provided guests with an opportunity to experience live opera and Italian fine dining. A unique dinner event amongst Kalutara hotels, it took place on 28th April 2018 and featured the country’s leading opera ensemble, the Menaka Singers’ Opera Ensemble (MSOE).
A highlight of this live opera dinner show was the participation of Barbara Segal, famous British opera star; she introduced each aria and provided a synopsis of the particular opera and the context of each piece which gave those in attendance a chance to appreciate it more. The opera arias that were covered during the event included those by Rossini, Mozart, Donizetti and Strauss. As part of the dinner package, patrons were served a five-course degustation menu along with paired wine.
