Taking place immediately with the intent to apply to all its properties throughout the world, Anantara and AVANI Hotels & Resorts have launched an initiative to completely cease the use of plastic straws. The first round resorts and hotels to initiate this venture are the ones situated throughout Asia; these include Krabi resorts in Thailand, namely Anantara Si Kao Resort.
The proposed alternative for plastic straws will be utensils fashioned out of bamboo, and properties throughout the world, in countries such as Sri Lanka, are developing small plots of bamboo to manufacture these environmentally-friendly straws in-house. Anantara and AVANI Hotels & Resorts plan to apply this initiative to all properties throughout Australasia, Europe, and the Middle East by the year’s end. As both these brands are part of Minor Hotels, this initiative is expected to cover additional sub-brands such as Oaks and Tivoli further down the line.
