APAC Takes Measures to Uplift Tourism – Initiatives & Incentives Introduced

Governments in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region have taken numerous steps to put tourism back on track following the setbacks caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was reported by WARC in an online article published on 12th February 2021, quoting material sourced from Nikkei Asia. It also mentioned that according to the World Tourism Organisation, foreign visitors to Asia-Pacific was down 84% in 2020 when compared to the previous year.

Thus, governments have launched various incentives including those that encourage domestic tourism. Additionally, key hotels in Asia Pacific such as those belonging to hospitality brands like Park Hotel Group continue to operate and provide travellers safe and worry-free stays. Amongst the initiatives highlighted were the travel subsidy SingapoRediscovers campaign in Singapore offering S$100-worth digital vouchers, the We Travel Together programme in Thailand and “pay now, stay later” options at hotels in Indonesia.
