The Maldivian Ministry of Tourism has reported a 12.9 percent increase in tourist arrivals this July, compared to the 2023 summer period. Latest numbers and data show July figures already surpassed 109,271 by the 21st of the month, while July 2023 only garnered 96,785 arrivals. The surge in tourist arrivals is a positive indicator for the country’s tourism industry, which plays a crucial role in its economy.
Several factors contribute to the Maldives’ growing popularity as a tourist destination, including its unique coral atolls, world-class resorts, and plethora of marine life. The islands attract a variety of tourists, from travellers looking for a family-oriented island, to those looking to stay at a Maldives Romantic Resort. Often, many properties offer multiple attractions and selling points, such as Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu Maldives, a 4-star island resort catering to both honeymooners and marine enthusiasts, with its UNESCO biosphere location.
The government’s efforts to promote the Maldives as a safe and attractive destination have also played a significant role in driving tourist arrivals.
