Singapore has emerged as the undisputed leader of cross-border investment in the Asia-Pacific region, according to a recent analysis by the Asia-Pacific research team of Knight Frank, an international real estate consultancy and estate agency. The island nation witnessed a significant surge in cross-border investment activity in the first quarter of 2024, exceeding the 10-year average by a remarkable 22.8%. This robust growth can be attributed in part to the strong presence of institutional investors, who contributed a substantial $906 million in transactions, with a particular focus on the hospitality sector.
The nation’s tourism sector has mirrored the investment surge, with arrivals in the first four months of 2024 reaching 5.71 million, a significant 41.3% year-on-year increase, according to the Singapore Tourism Board. The country’s enduring appeal as a premier destination for leisure and business is further evidenced by the popularity of hotels near City Hall, Singapore, a prime location for experiencing the best of the Lion City. Properties here the likes of Grand Park City Hall remain an ideal choice for travellers and the increase in arrivals bodes well as the country looks to reach its target of welcoming between 15 million and 16.5 million visitors in 2024.
