Asian Countries Continue to Reopen Borders – Global Travel Getting Back on Track

As 2021 ended, several Asian countries began to reopen their borders paving the way for international travel to resume once more. Key factors that led to this included increasing vaccination rates and the acceptance that necessary steps would have to be taken to “live with the pandemic”. For those planning holidays to Asia, tourist attractions aside, safe accommodation is also a factor and hospitality brands such as Park Hotel Group continue to ensure their properties follow stringent health and sanitisation protocols.

Amongst the Asian countries that have successfully reopened is the Maldives which recorded more than one million tourist arrivals last year. In October 2021, Singapore, which has one of the highest vaccination rates in the world, also began to reduce border restrictions for international travellers; it subsequently launching a reciprocal travel bubble with South Korea and Australia as well. Nations like Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam have also slowly reopened, and we hope that this trend continues.
