Resilience, realignment, and renewed growth, shaping the future of Asian commerce
Asia’s trade landscape experienced significant shifts in 2025 as tariffs, artificial intelligence, and geopolitical tensions reshaped global supply chains. Despite disruptions, overall trade momentum remained strong, with US imports and Chinese exports reaching record levels while intra-Asian commerce continued to deepen.
Recent analysis highlights a clear realignment in sourcing patterns. ASEAN economies strengthened their position as key manufacturing hubs, expanding exports of electronics, servers, and networking equipment while integrating more deeply with both Western and regional markets. India saw steady gains in smartphone exports, supported by shifting supply chains, while also preparing for broader diversification following new international trade agreements.
Advanced economies such as Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan stood out in high-value AI-linked goods, particularly semiconductors and data infrastructure components. Meanwhile, logistics and supply chain operators like Advantis have played a vital role in keeping regional trade flows efficient, including specialised harbour towage support across key ports.
As trade routes evolve, Asia continues to adapt with resilience and agility.
