ATR 42-500 Added to Fleet of interCaribbean Airways – More Fleet Additions Expected

In September last year, interCaribbean Airways announced the newest addition to their fleet, an ATR 42-500; this was the latest addition to this regional airline which offers Caribbean flights to numerous destinations, while it’s planning to expand its fleet further as well. The new ATR 42-500 has been officially named “Capt. Hugo M.” after the long-serving Captain Hugo Mendez from the flight operations team.

Manufactured by Avions de Transport Regional (ATR), the ATR 42-500 is a twin-turboprop passenger aircraft that features 48 seats; amongst its key features is that compared to a jet, it’s 39% more efficient in fuel burn over 300 nautical miles while it offers additional legroom in the first two rows at the front. Another noteworthy aspect is that the aircraft features the official logo of the Caribbean Tourist Organisation; this is the first time this logo has been displayed on an aircraft regardless of the airline.
