Auckland was crowned the number one city in the world to visit in 2022 – A Treasure Trove to Uncover

The news that Auckland, also known as Tāmaki Makaurau in Māori, has been named the number one city to visit in 2022 by Lonely Planet, could not have come at a better time for the country or city. The mayor of Auckland, Phil Goff issued a statement citing that this coveted title “will give a real boost to Auckland’s tourism and hospitality sectors as they start to recover from the Covid-19 lockdowns and borders reopen”.

With the vaccination program being rolled out diligently and with a sense of urgency, Auckland, like the rest of New Zealand is warming up to the idea of reopening its borders.
